What modalities is the Mammotome Prima™ MR system used for?
The Mammotome Prima™ MR system is designed for MRI-guided breast biopsy procedures. It is the first MRI-guided breast biopsy system designed to be used in-room, with 75% less tubing than existing systems for faster setup and cleanup.2
Can the Mammotome Prima™ MR system be used in the MRI scanner room?
Yes, the Mammotome Prima™ MR targeting set, probe, and control module are designed to be used in the MRI scanner room following the safety instructions in the Instructions for Use found on the mammotome.com/ifu website.
What are the components of the Mammotome Prima™ MR system?

The Mammotome Prima™ MR system consists of reusable and disposable components. The reusable components include a control module that comes with two rechargeable batteries, a charging base, and a footswitch. An optional tray can be purchased for an additional working space on top of the control module.

The disposable components include the probe, targeting set and vacuum canister.

What is the size of the targeting set and needle?
The Mammotome Prima™ MR targeting set and blunt tip probe are 8G in diameter, and 145mm in length.
Do I need to purchase a separate probe/needle to take samples with half aperture?
No, the Mammotome Prima™ MR control module has a touch screen with the ability to toggle between half and full aperture. There is no need to stock multiple needles for different aperture sizes.
Do I need to purchase a holster?
No, the probe is operated using a drive cable that is part of the control module. There is no holster needed.
How is tissue sampling activated?
Tissue sampling is activated via the foot pedal. A quick press of the foot pedal will take a single biopsy, or the foot pedal can be held down for continuous sampling mode.
Does the system have vacuum mode?
The footswitch has a button to activate vacuum to help clear the probe or tissue cavity.
Which tissue marker clips are recommended for use with the Mammotome Prima™ MR system?
