Title: Need for Annual Exams

Since my mother and grandmother had breast cancer, I had been told my chances were very high of having it too, so I have been very faithful about my monthly self examinations and annual mammograms.

I never felt any kind of mass, but did have some sensitivity and tingling in one breast. This year following my mammogram, I was told that something suspicious was showing up and that I should have a follow-up mammogram. I had it done and I subsequenty got a call from my physician to see a surgeon. Naturally I assumed the worst. The physician felt that what was showing up on the x-rays was probably microcalcifications, so he scheduled a biopsy. The result was what he had thought...no malignancy, much to my relief.

My advice is to have your annual exams. The surgery was so simple...the incision was so small that I am wondering if perhaps it was your Mammotome® System that was used; I am interested in knowing more about it.
